Meknes is the home town of my parents and grand-parents. My origins are back in this city despite the fact that I was born and raised in Casablanca, I never forget my roots… I visit this city several times a year to see my grand-parents to check over their health and lifestyle and also the evolution of the city itself. Meknes is located in the Middle Atlas region of Morocco and is just few kilometres away from Fez. Meknes is an imperial city and has a lot of historical monuments to offer such as Bab Mansour (bab=gate, as pictured) and 27 other gates around the city, the Old Town (Medina) and Place Hedim the main square of the city with a vibrant nightlife and some entertainment for locals or visitors. Meknes is also the nearest city to the Roman ruins of Volubilis or well-known as Oualili (this is my last name by the way, a proof of my ancestral roots in the region! :P).
