This week-end, London is host of two international events “NFL on Regent Street” and “London Oktoberfest”; two events that took me and my friends on a journey to discover more about American football and Munich’s most famous festival, the Oktoberfest. I met my friends in Picadilly Circus where we walked all the way up to Oxford Circus via Regent Street, host of NFL related events and activities. Later on the afternoon, we’ve taken our train to Bavaria as we were fully immersed in the german culture but in reality we were in Kennington, South London. More details, continue reading…

My day started in Picadilly Circus, where I meet my friends to check out Regent Street exclusively traffic-free that day for the NFL. The street was full of interactive NFL-themed games and activities for visitors, music and DJs, american food, touristic information and sport information to know more about American football. Lot of players made an appearance that day such as Dan Rooney, Antonio Brown, Heath Miller (as pictured). This day is a celebration of the upcoming International Series game at Wembley Stadium between Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings.

Around 2pm we leave this traffic-free, however, very busy street for Kennington in South London. Kennington Park is the host of the London Oktoberfest an inspired festival from the major, huge and mythical Oktoberfest in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The entrance fee is free everyday, although, on saturdays it is £5. We were there around 3pm, the tent was not full yet… The music is typical from Germany and sometimes from Austrian artists too. It is very entertaining and interesting to hear such music and experience traditions of the Oktoberfest, one of the most famous beer festivals in the world. It runs every year in Munich for 16 days starting in late September with more than 6 million people attending every year. “Die Wiesn”, as called by locals, in now a must see thing I add to my list. I’ve also never been to Germany yet. London Octoberfest has been a great sneak peak of what to expect in the real Oktoberfest!

Stay tuned, I’ll soon be in a city near you… I’ve got an idea, maybe Munich? 🙂
