Jaipur has so many things to offer to its visitors! It is the capital of Rajasthan as well as the largest city of that state. I stayed there for almost 3 days last summer during my 2 weeks trip around India. I strongly agree that it is a beautiful city that every traveller must see at least once in their lifetime. Here my selection of 5 awesome things to do in the Pink City, Jaipur!
Amber Fort
Without any doubt one of the most beautiful forts I have ever seen! This massive complex has been built according to the Hindu and Muslim styles which is clearly noticeable while walking around it. When I arrived there, I took an elephant for a ride up to the fort. It was very pleasant! But you must arrive early in the morning as apparently elephant rides stop at noon. Also, on the way to Amber Fort it is worth stopping by Jal Mahal, a palace on the waters of Man Sagar lake!
Jantar Mantar
This is an astronomical observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 18th century, it is very near the City Palace of Jaipur. This UNESCO World Heritage consists of major geometric devices to measure time, predicting eclipses and much more! Once there, make sure you look for your astro sign, it’s a fun thing to do between those massive devices. I’m Aries, by the way…
Chokhi Dhani
A great place to have a Rajasthani experience! From puppets shows to snake charming and from local food to henna tattoos. Basically, all the main Rajasthani things are exposed in this little village. Even though, I felt like it was very touristy but it did not matter as things were done traditionally. I had an awesome dinner and great entertainment with dance and music bands!
Elefantastic
Probably the place where I fell in love with elephants! This is something I have never done before so I grabbed the opportunity to do it in Jaipur. For around £50, I got to spend half a day feeding, painting, riding and bathing an elephant. On top of that, pick up and drop off from/to my hotel, a traditional lunch and soft drinks and water served any time. This is actually a small family business that attracts travellers who would like to experience something different: mission accomplished! At the end of the day it was hard saying good bye to the elephants, they are extremely friendly and smart. They made my day!
Hawa Mahal
A stunning palace with an amazing facade. I was speechless in front of it! Definitely, a must see in Jaipur. It is near the City Palace of Jaipur and a central street with some traditional shops to high street brands in the other street around the corner. Walking around the area is also nice, the city is buzzing at any time of the day.
And lastly, check out my Vlog in Jaipur!
At Amber fort in Jaipur you get a nice opportunity to ride an elephant up the hill to the main entrance. The fort is so huge that you get lost if you don’t remember the entry route..ha ha..
Thanks for your comment
Looks like you had a great time. We’ll be in Jaipur soon, so thanks for the tips 🙂
It was nice, indeed! Don’t miss the elephants if you haven’t encounter them so far in your Asian trip 😉
