Over a year ago, I visited Berlin– the capital of Germany. It is by far one of my favourite cities in Europe as I found everything I like there: a rich history, plenty of culture and non-stop party. I believe that it is a perfect city-break destination for young travellers like me. As I stayed 5 days there, I came up with 5 things I miss so much from Berlin.
1- Party 24 hours a day
I’ve never witnessed this in my entire life! The party is on in Berlin at any time but especially between Friday and Monday when it is possible to party literally non-stop. I remember after leaving a club at 8am seeing people queuing to get into other clubs. By 10am, I’m dead in my bed and yet people are still partying… My favourite spots are in Warschauer Strasse.
2- Fairly cheap city
For a European capital, Berlin is quite cheap. Accommodation in hostels and hotels is reasonable for a good quality and food and drinks are quite cheap too. I had the best Turkish doners there, 3 or 4 euros and that’s a wrap!
3- Tons of museums and culture
Culture is essential to Berlin’s life. The history is deep so remains are there too. From Berlin Wall to iconic Brandenburg Gate, there are so many free things to do in Berlin. In addition to that, a wide range of museums some of my favourites are Berlin Museum Historale and the Jewish Museum.
4- Feeling free
Don’t get me wrong, I’m feeling free wherever I am. However, not to the same extent I was feeling in Berlin. It was literally like: I can do whatever I want in this city! And Berlin has all ingredients to make you feel this way. One of the main reasons I travel is to feel free, I successfully tick that point there!
5- Adrenaline rush
All the above reasons I cite combined with some extra Berlin attractions fueled my adrenaline. Indeed, I did a base-flying jump from the rooftop of Park Inn by Radisson right in front of the TV Tower in Alexanderplatz. Among other unusual things I’ve done: bike tour along the Berlin Wall route and party on a boat. I’m sure there are plenty of other things so I need to go back!
